Cumberland and Westmorland wrestlers gathered at Low Hesket village hall for the end of season dinner and presentations. Victor Ludorum trophies are awarded for different age and weight categories and Connie Hodgson from Dent was again the winner of the ladies section. She won every competition she entered except one, where she came second.
The winner of the boys under 12 years was George Wilson of Selside, while the under 15 and under 18 years trophies were both won by James Hayhurst of Natland.
Hayhurst also won Wrestlers’ Wrestler of the season. He not only dominated his own age group but he wrestled to a very high standard in the under 18 years and in senior competitions over the whole season. Other senior winners were John Harrington from near Cockermouth and Richard Fox from Hethersgill.
